How to Teach this Concept to Children: 1. First, explain the meaning of the candy cane to help children understand and remember the real meaning of Christmas.
2. Give each child a candy cane.
3. Then let the children have time to practice telling each other the meaning of the candy cane. (Note: If you take time to do this, then the children will feel more confident about sharing the message with others.)
4. Give each child an extra candy cane or two to hand out to their neighbor, friend, relative, etc. Encourage them to share the whole meaning of the candy cane.
5. This booklet can also be used with any special Christmas outreach in your church or in your community. Hand the booklet out when serving Christmas dinners in shelters. Give it to needy families and children along with other Christmas toys and gifts that are distributed.
